Choosing a Vinyl Sticker for a Laptop, Bottle, Window or Smooth Surface

A design can look brilliant on screen and still feel wrong once it is fitted. The easiest way to choose a vinyl sticker is to start with the surface and available space, then choose the design, colour and size around it.
For a laptop
Measure the clear area of the lid and leave space around logos, hinges and rounded edges. A simple bold design usually tolerates a smaller size better than artwork with lots of tiny cut details. Black vinyl is strong on pale laptop shells; white and brighter colours work well on darker finishes.
For a bottle
Choose a smooth, rigid section that does not flex heavily when held. Keep the decal away from drinking edges and areas that receive constant abrasion. A smaller design is usually easier to fit around a curved bottle than a very wide graphic.
For a window or mirror
Glass gives cut vinyl a crisp finish. Think about what sits behind the glass: white can disappear against a bright background, while black can be hard to see through dark tint. Contrast matters more than the colour you like in isolation.
For a car
Measure around wipers, heater lines, window edges and handles. Make sure the sticker does not obstruct safe visibility. If it is going on the inside of a window and needs to be read from outside, choose a reverse-cut version where available.
For other smooth surfaces
Hard plastic, painted metal and other non-porous surfaces can work well when the finish is sound. Avoid rough, dusty, porous or delicate coatings. If you are unsure how a finish will react to adhesive, test an inconspicuous area first.
Size before design
Do not guess from the product image. Measure the real space and compare it with the listed sticker dimensions. Selected Sticktopus ranges run from compact 100mm designs up to larger 250mm options, while specialist ranges may use a different size set.
